Documentary Theatre Workshops

Between 2021 and 2023, Hotel Europa worked with a group of people from São Pedro da Cova, seeking through documentary theater to work with this community, in a dialogue between different generations about the mining past and current environmental problems, reflecting on the traumatic space that is this mine in their lives and histories population and whose negative impact now remains transfigured in the form of environmental crime.

During this period, the company’s working methods and documentary theatre creation were used to reflect on the theme. Workshops combining theatre, movement and shared stories. Appreciation and analysis of shows and exhibitions.

The work developed resulted in the presentation of two shows in the field of documentary theatre, The Mine and Mine Tribunal. The participants are non-actors, residents of São Pedro da Cova who shared their life stories with the audience.
