Documentary Theatre Workshop

with André Amálio and Tereza Havlíčková

Description

Part of the 17th edition of the Lusófona Festival (in Prague) and led by the artistic directors of Hotel Europa (André Amálio and Tereza Havlíčková), this creative workshop uses the methods and style of documentary theatre, combining theatre techniques, movement and other means of documentary theatre used in their performances. In this way, they convey to the audience their unique experience based on years of work with the material they have collected, which is a testimony to the resistance against the fascist regime in Portugal.

Together with the workshop participants, the actors sought answers to questions such as how a seemingly mundane life story can be transformed into art, how memories can be used to create a theatre scene, and what memories are hidden behind a photograph or a personal object. The theme of the workshop is a reflection on the Carnation Revolution, but also a search for connections with the Velvet Revolution and the building of bridges and mutual understanding between the two countries, their history and culture. Participants can share personal and family stories and use movement and improvisation to do so.

The workshop is held in Portuguese and Czech. Free. Capacity: 20 people.
