Nelson Makossa is a DJ, vinyl collector and a leading figure in the promotion of African music from the 1970s and 1980s. A member of the duo Irmãos Makossa and the collectives Afromats Crew and Afro Groove Collective DJs, he has dedicated his career to promoting and preserving African rhythms, offering immersive and authentic musical experiences.

Through the “África em Vinil” project, he takes the audience on a musical journey across the African continent, exploring rare records that seldom leave his collection. His in-depth knowledge and careful selection of repertoire have secured him a regular slot on the online radio station Yé Yé, where he presents a monthly programme.

Recognised as one of the most influential African music DJs in Portugal, he has been expanding his reputation beyond borders, performing in countries such as the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany and France. With a career marked by a commitment to roots music and the authenticity of the vinyl format, Nelson Makossa continues to bring cultures together and celebrate the rich sounds of the African continent.
