Synopsis
The São Pedro da Cova coal mines were one of the most important in the country, having been deactivated in the 70s. In 2001, these former mines were the target of one of the biggest environmental crimes in Portugal, where thousands of tons of toxic waste from Siderurgia Nacional were dumped.
This project aims to work with the population of São Pedro da Cova, seeking through documentary theater to work with this community, in a dialogue between different generations about the mining past and current environmental problems, reflecting on the traumatic space that is this mine in their lives and histories population and whose negative impact now remains transfigured in the form of environmental crime. This work will be developed over three years, with the creation of a show at the end of each year.
